Using a 2¼” x 2¼” x 9” piece of walnut to make a forearm for a Winchester 1897 shotgun, I was faced with the problem of drilling a long, straight hole through the wood blank for the action slide.

Occasionally a Remington 870 action tube nut just doesn't want to turn. When I see the whole tube starting to turn in the wood, I use this tool.

The Stevens Tip-ups were first introduced in the 1870’s and discontinued in 1895. Parts are virtually non-existent for these.

Below is a picture of a 2" x ¼" dia. drill press device for cutting screw holes in recoil pads from the back to be used on pads that require a knife cut on the outside to insert a mounting screw.

Early in my career as a gunsmith for our local armoured car companies, I discovered an innovative way to protect a barrel's bore from the etching effects of Parkerizing.

Recently I had parkerized a rifle using your manganese solution. Upon assembly I had a missing pin. I knew that I had blasted it using the shake-and-blast canister. I had a part stick in the canister before and quickly found it there.

After several failed experiments trying to reproduce the look of Parkerizing on my M1 Garand, which has a new commercial barrel, I tried a product call Blacken-It used to color model locomotive and freight car parts.

Just got back from the Tulsa Show. Supremely cool show, mighty big, everybody was real nice. There were people from all over the country there showing or shopping.

When sporterizing military Mauser bolt handles, I found that the job is much quicker and easier if I do not cut the original bolt handle completely off.

During my tenure in Gunsmithing, there has been more than one occasion where a trigger return spring has been broken.

The key to hands-free stock finishing is a rotating carousel tray about 12” in diameter, often called a "Lazy Susan," that you find in the housewares section of a department store.

I have done gunsmithing for years and have more recently added furniture making to my list of hobbies.
