A Bergara Premier Series Barreled Action in the Classic .270 Winchester
The .270 Winchester was one of the first sub-.30-caliber rounds to really make huge inroads in the American hunting and shooting market, thanks to the work of men like Jack O'Connor, and many classic hunting rifles can be found chambered in this cartridge. However, those old guns aren't necessarily the most accurate or precise out there. To take full advantage of this round, it's necessary to step up to modern platforms, and what better way than to build a setup on a Bergara Premier Series Barreled Action?
The Bergara Premier Series action is constructed around a two-lug bolt system complete with a floating bolt head that's separate from the bolt body. This ensures that the bolt head makes complete contact with the lug abutments, and a cone-shaped bolt nose ensures that the cartridge feeds seamlessly into the action. The bolt also features a spring-loaded sliding-plate extractor that's found in the front of the lower locking lug.

Each Bergara Premier Series bolt body is a one-piece unit machined from stainless steel that features a rear pad designed to accept threaded bolt handles. The action is compatible with all standard Remington 700 optics bases attached with 8x40 screws, as well as all Remington 700 triggers. The barrels are made from 416 stainless steel, and this particular barreled action features a #5 contour.
